[Description] A NYC-based Japanese singer, NiA a.k.a Tomoko Nagashima (Orange Pekoe), makes her first appearance at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 3. This is her solo debut concert in New York.
[Bio] Nia, known by her stage name Tomoko Nagashima, is a Japanese singer. Born in Hyogo prefecture in Japan, she started her career as a vocalist for the duo Orange Pekoe in 1998.
They are known as one of the most uniquely talented artists who helped popularizing Jazz and Brazilian music in the Japanese music scene.
They have been awarded many prizes, such as Japan Gold Disc Award “New Artist of the Year”, ADLIB Popular Disc Award “New Domestic Artist Award”, JFN Listeners Award “Best Achievement Award “ and more.
The have released seven original albums, selling over 600,000 copies.
Nia recorded her 1st solo album “NIA” in Brooklyn, New York with co-producer, arranger and a trumpet player Takuya Kuroda in 2012. It was released in September 2014 by KING RECORS in Japan and Atlantic Records in the USA, all songs written in English lyrics.
She moved to New York in 2016, and now is working on her 2nd album.
