[Description] A NYC-based Japanese flutist, Haruna Fukazawa, will be making her debut at Blue Note NY. This concert features the world-renowned saxophonist, Steve Wilson and clebrates her latest album release, “Departure.”

[Bio] Haruna Fukazawa has been an active member of the New York and Japan musical scene as a flutist. Her playing style is straightforward, sweet, and powerful, which is inspired most by her teacher and the Jazz legend, Frank Wess. Since moving to the United States, she focused on jazz improvisationand her career continues with groups as six times winner of the Downbeat Critics Poll Karl Berger’s Improvisers Orchestra, Jazz Triangle 65-77, and more. She has performed in some of the most prestigious venues in New York City, among them the Blue Note, Carnegie Hall, The Stone, The 55 Bar, The Bitter End, Shapeshifter Lab, Joe’s Pub, The Rubin Museum of Art and more.

The Haruna Fukazawa Quintet includes Steve Wilson performs regularly since 2017. The new album ‘DEPARTURE’ was released from SUMMIT RECORDS in 2019.
