In 2007 April formed an independent band “April and the box” after graduated from Tianjin Conservatory Of Music. She served as the main creator and lead singer, music fans affectionately known as “miss April” in China. In 2009-2010, she was invited to the famous TV show in Taiwan called “One Million Star Season Six” and “The Star Show”. She got the fifth place in the final. In 2013, she released her creative album “Good Day Peking”, and established “Peace Music Record Label” in Beijing as the founder in 2015.
April’s first transform to jazz singer since 2008. Then she began to be active in the jazz scene in Beijing. She was interviewed by “China jazz” program of Philadelphia TV station in 2013. On December 25, 2016, she became the first musician in China to successfully hold a jazz concert through online crowdfunding platform. The show “The Romance of December” was also praised by music critics as “the most Grand jazz scene in China”.
In 2017, April moved to Shanghai and appeared in the hottest jazz clubs like JZ Club, HEYDAY, House Of Blues&Jazz, Wooden Box etc. She did the tour of “The December(Season II)” and successfully published the original live recording album. She also became the “spokesperson” of the jazz Christmas lady in China. She is the live jazz queen who has been following the audience for years in China. In 2019, she performed in the Chinese version of “Sleep No More” (Mandalay trio). April is currently studying with Jane Monheit. She also makes continuous efforts in the field of social activities for her proposal of “the socialization of modern jazz community”. April always gives the vibes in the Jazz standards also mixes more elements. The rich layers, tender along with the gender, the phrase improvisational emotion in her performance, make person feel strongly at the scene of the soulful music and rhythm. She is also keen to carry forward the spirit of contemporary jazz. Her innovation and adaptation have been combined with a lot of personal creation, and she has started to cooperate with the global contemporary musicians to do “The New Standard Project” insistently.
April moved to New York City in the end of 2019 to develop her jazz career as a chinese jazz musician in New York, to announce the sound of the eastern. Now just started her shows, programs and recordings in this paradise of jazz world.
