Kaede Kimonos in collaboration with Mar Creation Presents
“The Nippon Experiment – Art Showcase A Collective Interpretation of Japan”
October 7, 2021
[What is The Nippon Experiment (TNE)]
The Nippon Experiment is a series of art exhibits that showcase the influence on Japanese Culture on artists around the world.
The series aims to showcase the individual artists’ work on various canvases with one unifying theme. Japan!
[What is unique about TNE]
TNE’s goal is to present the artwork from the various creators in a series of canvases that step a bit outside the box. Starting with the humble skateboard deck and in future showcases items like street signs, weathered wood and visual projections. Each artist will use the canvas of that specific showcase to implement their creation. The manner of implementation, medium and display is left up to the individual creators to decide.
[Explaining the Unifying theme of TNE]
The artist during this series will be from all walks of life. Be they Japanese or from another culture. In this exhibit series they are given just one word from Japanese Culture for each showcase and are tasked with creating their work based on their interpretation of what that word means to them.
[When does TNE start]
The first TNE exhibit starts October 25th from 10am at the Kaede Marketplace. 224 Wesr 35th Street, Suite 1406, NY NY 10001.
The exhibit is open to the public and free tickets can be procured on Eventbrite
