New York, NY — Acclaimed Japanese dancer and choreographer Midori Kashiwagi will present a special live performance on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at L’Alliance New York Florence Gould Theater. The event will showcase Kashiwagi’s signature fusion of traditional Japanese dance, jazz, and modern dance theater.
The evening program features two original works:
• My Heart Still Belongs To You (時が過ぎても)
• Carmen, the Femme Fatale (魔性の女 カルメン)
Both pieces highlight Kashiwagi’s emotionally charged storytelling and cross-cultural artistic style, blending elements of Japanese Buyo dance with Western contemporary expression. Recognized internationally for her dramatic dance theater, Kashiwagi began studying classical Japanese Buyo dance at the age of six and became a certified master of the Kashiwagi School at fifteen. After working as an actress in Japan, she moved to New York to study jazz dance under renowned instructors including Fred Benjamin and JoJo Smith. Her work has since been praised for creating a unique artistic bridge between East and West, tradition and modernity.
