This is a two-day language event, on March 15th & 23rd, to learn Japanese through the five senses.
Joined the series, you learn how to describe beauty of music/art. You also learn how to express taste/scent/texture of food and drink. After the event, you will be able to share how you enjoy Japanese culture in Japanese.

Content of the lecture:
Accent of Japanese, Unit of word, Relation between sounds (language) and visuals
-Some people say that Japanese has unchanging intonation. Is it true?
-Japanese has a lot of onomatopoeia. How do you feel when you hear ‘Kon-Kon’? What about ‘Gon-Gon’?
-What kind of creature do you think ‘Mofura’ is?
Pronunciation is crucial to have smooth communication with people in a language. After brief introduction of the sound systems of English/Japanese, enjoying listening to some tunes, you learn the accent patterns and word units of both languages. We also show how your intuition that sound and visual are somehow related can be explained by the theory of language.
Sure you can appreciate the culture without words. But the words reflect concepts, sources of creation. Let’s learn Japanese through the culture. Let’s enjoy the culture with Japanese!

・「コンコン」と聞いたら、何かを軽く叩いたようなイメージをほとんどの日本人が持つはず。では「ゴンゴン」と聞いたときはどうでしょう？擬音語に対して、日本人が同じようなイメージを持つのはどうして？
・「モフラ」って生き物はどんな形をしていると思う？

言葉の裏には大きなイメージや感覚、経験がくっついている様ですね。
そこを体現的に学び、「面白い発見！」を意識して、日本語の学びに結び付けて行きます！
