[Aco Tomine] Singer/accordionist/composer. Born and grew up in Yokohama. With her accordion, Aco sings old Japanese folk songs(Min-yoh) in contemprary style as well as her original folk songs, in hope they will be sung even hundreds of years after. Recently performed in Paris, Bangkok and Singapore.
Aco Tomine started her career as a singer of Japanese old folk songs with her accordion in 2008.
As well as traditional folk songs she sings the numbers of her own composition. They are traditionally tasted with modern spirits, so everyone, even non-Japanese people, can enjoy Japanese folk songs as one of world music.
Her live performances (over 150 a year) range from concerts to singing at Rakugo theaters, strolling at Japanese-style bars.
She has visited quake-hit regions several times for concerts, and occasionally gives lectures at universities and high schools.
