Romeo Scaccia is a fantastic pianist and brilliant composer who has honed his skills and talents during a diverse and eclectic career. The music and soundtracks Romeo Scaccia has composed for concerts, films, festivals and exhibitions have garnered him a both a solid professional reputation and a growing fan base.
The truly amazing feature of Romeo Scaccia is his enthusiastic and fearless navigation into all mediums to propagate his music. He lives and loves music in all of its forms. His concert performances demonstrate an absolute mastery of the pianoforte. His range is immense and spans from the ingenious interpretation of Bach’s Goldberg Variations –some say uncannily reminiscent of Glenn Gould – to haunting renditions of modern compositions that traverse genres seamlessly. Reviews have eulogised him as a musician of remarkable and unique talent and his performances are known as events that enthrall audiences.
Romeo Scaccia began his musical training at the Palestrina Conservatory in Cagliari, Italy under the guidance of Arlette Giangrandi Eegmann graduating with the highest honours. He continued his studies at the School for Advanced Musical Studies of Saluzzo, Italy under the guidance of Alexander Lonquich and at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary under the guidance of Ferenc Rados (pupils at his academy also included András Shiff and Zoltán Kocsis). Romeo also attended the Sweelinck Academy in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in the study programme for exceptionally gifted young musicians.
The winner of several national and international piano competitions, his most recent award in 2014 was the medal awarded by the President of the Italian Senate “for his outstanding artistic quality and the constant search for new expressions between visual art, drama, music favoring essential tools for training and cultural exchanges.”
Other major achievements include the following:
1999 – experiments and executes the first world premiere streaming digital concert connecting performances in Cagliari, London and Amsterdam
2005 – composes the soundtrack for the 1929 silent film “La Grazia” and conducts its performance by the Teatro Lirico, Caglari, Italy
2009 – composes the soundtrack for the short film The 8th Samurai winner of the Los Angeles Short Lo-Fi Resistancelm Festival and directed buy American director Justin Ambrosino
2010 – performs and records live CD Romeo Scaccia meets Kocani Orkestra at the Teatro Massimo produced by Jazzverkstatt in Berlin
2010 – collaborates with Chinese artist Shan Shan Sheng and composes original music at the Shanghai World Exposition. The soundtrack for the commemorative video is awarded the prestigious Prix Italy.
2011 – composes the soundtrack for the film I Bambini Della Sua Vita premiered at European Cinema Festival in Lecce, Italy
2014 –compose the soundtrack “Simphony of Taste” awarded by the “Oscar della pubblicità italiana” Mediastars
